Fire Sculptures Made in the Uk

Birchwood Forest Park

The first fire sculpture Phil made was for Birchwood Forest Park. He worked on ten fires here with Diane, Callum Moncrieff and later George Thompson. The Forest Park Rangers - Gaynor Kerry, Andy Smith and Gina Balzi plus pupils from Birchwood Community High School also worked on these fires sculptures which were made from 1986 until 1995 Some pupils carried on helping make the sculptures years after they left school - Robert Fisher, Stuart, Graham, and Martin Hatton who became an electrician and used his skills to make special effects. Callum and George continued making the November 5th Fire sculptures here until 1999. Click on the Image to see details of the ten fires made at Birchwood.

Taurus Crafts

Phil and Diane moved to the Forest of Dean in 1997. The first fire sculpture made at Taurus Crafts was in 1999 and the last by Phil in 2008. Other artists made the fire sculpture in 2002 when Bews and Gorvin were working in Canada and the final fire sculpture held at Taurus Crafts was in 2009 by the Flaming Herberts - Damon Bramley and Steve Hislop. England

Many more fires sculptures were made by Phil with assistance, throughout England over the years. The first fire sculpture in Birchwood was of a Fire Bird and fittingly the final fire sculpture was also a bird - the Coalway Crow held at Coalway's Frost Fair in 2012 and Phil and Diane's home village.
